My Beer Story

Beer and I go way back… Ok, not that far back. But we are very good friends. My love of beer began a few years ago, when I was in university. I started drinking Coors Light on nights out. Go ahead and judge me, but I was young and didn’t know any better.

I moved over to Keith’s, which wasn’t much better, but at least (at the time) had a little more flavour to it. However, things changed in the summer of 2012 when I was introduced to craft beer for the first time. Having just graduated from college and moved to Ottawa, I went out to try the Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery. That’s where I had a pint of their Gold, and fell in love.

From then on, if I bought beer, it was from Big Rig. I was slowly exposed to more craft breweries throughout the city such as Beau’s and Kichesippi. My love for craft beer continued to grow. Since then, I’ve spent countless hours finding more local, and not so local, craft beer to try. My favourite hobby has become finding and trying different kinds of beer.

So, I wanted to find a way to share my love of craft beer, and learn more about it. Full disclosure, I am learning as I go with this blog. I want to share not only my thoughts on certain brands of beer, but where you can find great beer in Ottawa and the surrounding area. More importantly, I want to get to know you. When did you start drinking craft beer? What’s your beer story?
